How do I use custom fonts on PowerPoint?
After downloading the font of your choice, you will have to add it to PowerPoint. You then have two possible processes to achieve this.
Install specific fonts on your workstation
It is very simple toadd a font in PowerPoint once you have downloaded it:
- if necessary, extract the file if it is in compressed format;
- open the font file, which is in FTT format (TrueType File);
- click on “install”;
- create your PowerPoint document or open an existing document
- You will then find the downloaded font in the list of available fonts.
If the PowerPoint software is already open when you install the font on PowerPoint, you may need to close your document and then Reopen PowerPoint to see it appear.
Integrate fonts directly into your PPT presentation
Using the previous method, you can use the specific font, but if you send your file to a collaborator in .ppt format, they may not be able to Don't see this custom font. Indeed, if he did not install the font himself on his computer, your font will then be replaced by a system font.
So that everyone can see and use your specific font, you will therefore have to include it in your presentation. Again, you will need less than a minute to complete this operation:
- go to the “File” tab, then select “Options” at the bottom of the left column;
- in the “Registration” section, check the “Embed fonts in the file” box;
- then select the desired option (only the characters used or all the characters) taking into account the software's recommendations;
- confirm your choice by clicking on OK;
- The font is then embedded in your file, allowing anyone to read your presentation as you designed it.
Attention: when downloading the PowerPoint font, check that it is in the OpenType or TrueType format. You will have confidence in the compatibility and embeddability of the font for all your PPT documents.
